Day 63 - Tuesday January 12, 2016

So I had some time while my son was at basketball practice tonight.  Approximately 45 minutes to be exact. Where to take pics?  The sliver of moon was low in the sky, and after driving around shoreline park to look for shots, and, since I brought my tripod, I'd figure it was a perfect evening to attempt to photo stars and star trails as there was not a cloud in the sky.

The drive to Ft Pickens from GB was a short one, and, bonus, the gate was open, so I drove into the Park to try and get away from some of the light pollution on the beach.  After finding a non-flooded parking lot, I was able to set up my tripod and my remote trigger by phone and started shooting pics using the 11mm Tokina.  I brought a flashlight to do a little night painting too.  I was probably able to take about 18-20 shots that were at least 30 seconds a piece, with the last three shots being a minute, a minute-thirty, and a two minute exposure.

When I got home I attempted to watch a video and create my first star trail using lightroom.  My computer however, had other plans and it took about an hour to render 18 photos.  I really need to find a faster, better computer, or get the computer I built/added on to into my living room and upgrade to Win 7!

Anyway, as I still work on this, I liked the longer exposure the best.  Today #365project pic was my 2:02 second exposure, with a little flashlight action to bring out the sand.  Hopefully I'll be able to get these star trails to work.  Best option, not even use photoshop--just do it all with the camera!  I hope to see a 15 minute shot in my near future!
