Day 102 - Sunday February 21, 2016

Day 102 - Sunday February 21, 2016

So. We have these beautiful appendages called feet and legs.  Since I started trying to get my steps on a regular basis, I've realized my ankles hurt.  My tendons connecting my ankles hurt; my Achilles hurt, and other joints were sore and achy. But, as with anything, the more you do things, the better your body adjusts to doing these things.

Our legs take us places.  So do our feet.  About six months ago, we wanted to paddleboard at the Naval Live Oaks north side.  When we were finally able to get in, when the gate wasn't shut, we were hastily told that the park was reserved. Further information helped us realize that only parties could camp there with reservations, else the park was considered closed.

Recently, since I've bought my Garmin Vivofit, I've really started walking.  February is a great time to walk. The bugs aren't out yet, the weather is perfect, the gates are easy to walk around. I'm getting past the soreness that was accompanying 7500 steps per day.  As the goals rose, I usually hit the mark, with the exception of a couple of days.  As I enter my third week, I've also kept track of caloric intake, as well as what I've been eating.  myfitness pal is a great tracker by the way.

So, with our last photo shoot, we could (get this) walk down to the park area. Legs.  Amazing things, that can usually bypass any barrier. We walked right around that fence and went to the shoot place. Recently, my co-worker friends have brought up backpacking and walking Havasu Falls in AZ.  I figured, why not--let's get walking.  Last night, before I fell asleep, I decided I wanted to start doing some serious hiking.  Get worked up before a possible trip to Cheaha State Park in AL, which is nothing but trails and miles upon miles of hiking.  Today, as we awoke, I brought up the idea to Jen to see if she wanted to walk the Andrew Jackson trail. She was for it, the weather was perfect, and we were even able to get our son to go with us this morning, as well as our neighbors.

We walked a good loop from the parking lot, down the Andrew Jackson trail, and doubled back around along the bayside.  It was an absolutely beautiful walk.  Legs.  Amazing things.  And hiking is so EASY as far as gear.  A backpack, some water bottles and good shoes, then Go!  I was able to put 7 miles on the legs today. My legs, which are less sore recently since I've really started stepping!

Yes, that's a log.  Cool yard ornament if you can get it home.

Later I went back to take some more photos, hoping to catch a nice cloud driven sunset, but it was not to be. Too much cloud cover, so I worked on some long exposure shots during the golden hour.
