Day 111 - Tuesday March 1, 2016
Day 111-Tuesday, March 1, 2016
I received the news last night. A bad sign for film lovers and old Polaroid Land cameras fans everywhere. Fuji is discontinuing their beloved 100c pull apart film. I was stunned at the news. Although the company says they don't have plans currently to stop production in the states, I believe it's coming due to the fact that 100c prices have gone up everywhere. This really sucks for me because I love the peel apart film, but I'm relatively new to this, and my experience has been minimal on the pocketbook and wallet. Whom I really feel for is Scott Rust, who has bought multiple EXPENSIVE Polaroid cameras, and converted Mimaya medium format cameras, and uses them as a livelihood for shooting portraits. I can't imagine life being good for him right now, with his investment he's sunk in this stuff. It really just sucks.
I know they're a company and the bottom line means everything, but please; let's not go the way of IP film for this. Hopefully a company will step up and keep this thing going. Needless to say, as I searched the internet for 100c film last night at 10pm, all the while noticing the price increases, I couldn't help but realize that my investment in this type craft is basically over.
So, I went out and bought a wireless digital printer with the money I would have saved trying to buy up the last of what was available. An Epson photo inkjet printer--very interesting once I figured out that the tray actually comes out the front and not the top. Epson, you need to show that on the picture. We old folk aren't quite used to this whole hideaway paper tray thing in order to make the printer prettier.
Anyway, wireless printing is pretty cool, since I haven't had it before. Maybe I'll update my used computers to Windows 7 sometime next!. Epson needs to make a wireless photo printer that runs off a battery so you can just add it to the camera bag and print 4x6's as you take them. To hell with polaroid!
So, today's photo will definitely not be for Fuji. Gonna be hard to use dad's camera again knowing this company took away my love for peel a part film. Kidding. It's 35mm. I'll need to buy something other than fuji film though--anyone in the market for a nice Polaroid land camera?
