Day 126 - Wednesday March 16, 2016 100mm day 4
Today was bittersweet. On the sour side, I had to attend a funeral for Mabel. On a better side I got to hang out with some people I haven't seen in a very long time. Funny how funerals bring people together. From what I learned at the funeral about Mabel today, I learned that she was a beautiful person, and raised some great children.
The funeral was a Lutheran one--talk about old school hymm singing and prayer service--I thought the Catholic religion I'm in was old-fashioned. It was a long service, but a beautiful one. And, bonus, I got to meet the grandbaby. It was a hard part of the funeral when the pastor talked about the Elizabeth being born six hours after Mabel was laid to rest, obviously. This too shall pass.
After the funeral I was able to eat a beautiful hamburger in sauce at Blue Dot BBQ on Belmont/Devillers with my two buddies, TJ and Joe. It was great with the exception of the fact that they only take cash, and after I ordered and went to the ATM there were technical difficulties. Thought I was going to have to do dishes until Joe was able to grab the emergency $100 he keeps hidden away in his wallet. I owe ya one Joe.
Not long after, I had to pick up Jen from work today as I was 'in the area' and we didn't want to have to go back to pick up Avery during rush hour hell spring-break traffic. Today she drove home. All by herself. (sniff).
Before I went to pick up Jen, I went to shoreline and found a hidden away grave yard in the city limits of Gulf Breeze Proper. On about a half-million dollar lot. Just wow. Unfortunately the gate was locked, but the trusty 100mm allowed me to zoom in close and I did as best I could. The most recent burial I could find was 2000, but the earliest one i found was 1910. Crazy. If I go with a friend next time, I'm jumping that fence!
I felt the visit to the graveyard was appropriate today since I didn't got to the internment and burial. Not long after, I had about a half hour to kill so I drove down to shoreline park south and found this beautiful 37 Dodge. (at least I think it was a Dodge) Just sitting there. No one around. So heck yeah, I grabbed some pics with the 100mm.
After picking up Jen, we had a lot of yard work to do when we got home. Not much to do after that but drink a beer, and start porchlife season. I found a mixtape (CD) from 2012, that worked out just fine as the sun set, crickets chirped and kids jumped on the neighbor's trampoline.
Life continues....
