Day 155 - Thursday April 14, 2016

I was able to fill in for Rich during the Staff meeting this afternoon in order to take pictures of the deputies of the quarter.  One of the winners was Forrest Neff, who made 4 felony arrests of major drug runners over the course of the last three months. I've know his father forever, since we were kids, and have known Forrest since he was an infant. Crazy how quickly time goes by.  Congrats kiddo. Be safe.  I tried to do everything right for the photos today. Go in early, get an idea of light, set the flash for the photo, etc.  I was going to do an off camera flash, which I'm still learning and wanted to use in the field.  Of course--everything will go fine.  Nope! The flash batteries died from all the run throughs and I had to resort to the dreaded Creative Auto function as I didn't have time to make adjustments.  A little lens flare on the certificates for the awards, but hey-what can one do?  Hold up an officer meeting? I think not.  I took all the precautions before the pics, but guess it wasn't happening today.  Go plan B!

Later in the evening after we got back from our walk and our short mile day 14 ride, I noticed our first peach blossoms budding and blooming after planting our 'for sale' peach tree last year.  I used the macro at F32, and a flash.  Thought these pics turned out crazy good.   Even 500px worthy maybe. I think my favorite part about these pics was that I didn't even see the water droplets on the leaves, but the good ol 100mm did.  Love shots like this. Accidental ones partially, but at least I had the know to take them.  Good day for photography.
