Day 165- Sunday April 24, 2016
I had to meet Scott Rust at 0900 for the pics he took of Avery. Got some great information and learned a lot about him too. This place is one of the most tranquil places for me on the planet I think. The Secret Spot he told me about is VERY quiet, and when I arrived he was meditating on the bench. I brought my 100mm thinking (mistakenly) that we'd be shooting possibly, but when I saw him, I noticed he rode his beautiful Klein Aura roadie there. No pics. As I saw him meditating from behind at the car, I figured he couldn't hear me as he has a hearing disability. I snapped this shot from basically the car, under that beautiful Oak tree.
He didn't even notice I was there until I said something. I was quiet, listening to him breathe (his mediation) then, as he opened his eyes and saw me, told me to wait a second, placed his hearing aids in both ears and proceeded to talk with me. About life, Avery and how wonderful she is--modeling contacts, yoga, youth, suicide, and other things with kids today and back then. I always have to put aside at least an hour for Scott because we always hit it off and can just talk for hours. He gave me a few good books to read, and hopefully I'll find them at the local library. Mindfulness in Plain English will be the first on I read--then maybe The Tibetan guide to living and dying, and there was another, I just can't remember. It's uncanny how much we both seem to have in common, but you can learn alot about folks when you just LISTEN. Another beautiful day. Thanks Scott, for starting this day off right.
