Day 182 - Wednesday May 11, 2016

After a long day at work, and recovery from the concert trip last night, we decided to go on a hood ride tonight to hit Bay Woods and Paradise Bay subdivisions. Found a very cool private park in Paradise Bay.  Residents only.  Very funny sign.  I find signs humorous and find myself obeying them less every day.  Especially signs like this.  Who are they to tell me I can't enjoy a park just because I don't 'live' in their subdivision.  Ludicrous.  So.  Jen and I rode our bikes down the trail to a little private spot, marred with Chinese Tallow 'popcorn' trees, and some boards that were stacked-possibly for a future build of something.  There was a nice little picnic table placed for sunset views though. I was able to snap a couple of shots at sunset tonight, so the trespass (again) was totally worth it. There were a lot of stumps in the water, which are awesome to photograph during a sun- setting sky.  Although the park was a little decadent in appearance, IF we were residents, we'd use it often. Neat small woody quiet place.

After our short visit, it was time to ride the rest of the neighborhood and get back home as it was getting dark.

On our way out, I was reminded of the possible Civil War soldiers grave that is supposedly near one of the streets we rode.  Unfortunately we were fruitless in our search--it was getting dark too.  There is supposed to be an opening between yards to show the grave but Jen and I in our search were unable to find it.  I'll have to do a little research on that one as word of mouth might be fibbin :)

I don't mind riding in the dark on Hwy 98 as it's lit very well for cyclists and pedestrians (now).  The problem is the termite swarms that occur in the 'formosan termite capital of Florida'.  I didnt' have glasses and they are everywhere, so it was pretty important to get home before we were spitting out bugs and getting our corneas knocked around.  We made it--only spit out a bug or three.  Good night to ride, but the humidity is a comin!
