Day 228 - Sunday June 26, 2016

My son told me the night before today that he wanted to get up early to go fishing.  I told him to go if he was up and I wasn't.  Turned out to be a good outing. Got some 'charity fish' from the local guys there that didn't think Speckled trout were as good as redfish.  Lately with the emeril recipe I tend to disagree.  They are excellent pan fried in some flour and an essence mixture a little higher on cayenne with some butter wine shallot sauce!

Needless to say, I was able to join my son as I awoke at 5:45.  Didn't wanna be lazy this day so I took the 50mm and got a couple of pics.

Later that evening, we heard a thunderstorm in the distance.  It was a big one on the point, headed straight for us.  Unfortunately, as hard as I tried to get the long exposure with lightning finish (some up to 30secs) I just couldn't get a capture.  And, to make things worse, there were no lightning bolts--just what appeared to be sky lightning.  All the camera caught was cloud lighting--I wasn't impressed with my attempt, but I did get a nice size goose egg on my shin by only paying attn to the storm outside and trying to get the camera to the porch.  Cuss words were shouted, and it hurt, but it's all good.  The ghost chair got shin kicked tonight. I did almost get this pic though.

As soon as I snapped this quick pic, a lightning bolt appeared behind the water tower, and I mean as soon as the shutter closed.  I just can't win with this stuff.

Tonights sous chef:
Gotta love how my son takes a strong interest in cooking up his catches, or charity catches for that matter.  I don't mind it a bit. He cleans em, and I show him how to prep em. I could get used to this.
