Day 309 - Saturday September 17, 2016

Day 309

It's game day.  My son's 3-0 Dolphins against the Milton Panthers in Milton.  The game started at 5PM.  Things were looking great up to the game.  FSU lost 63-20 (no I didn't rub it in to anyone--even my FSU friends) and Ole Miss played pretty well (in the first half) against an Alabama team that didn't start playing until they realized they were down 24-3.

Because there was no practice or walk-thru's on Friday due to rain for GT, they wanted them up there at 3pm to get ready for the game. Jen and I had two hours to kill and Ollie's was nearby. As the awesome #badparents we are, we dropped off our son, then drove to the sports bar to watch the UA/Ole Miss Game, among other ones that were available at that time.  I like doing this because we no longer have cable, only Over the Air channels (minus FOX--gotta get that fixed), so it's fun once in a while to get to watch these games.

Needless to say, we ordered wings and a pitcher of Bud Light.  We had to tailgate before our son's game and that was the only way we knew how, so it was fun.

happiness!
A couple of beers, a little trivia catch up and we went back to Milton to watch our team get pummeled 36-8. It was ugly, but what was more ugly was watching our team seem to 'give up' once they were down by a couple of touchdowns.  I'm not saying we could have one, but it might have been closer had our team kept their heads up. We didn't punch it in on the first play, then a couple of penalties pushed us back, then Milton got the ball and scored. Before we knew it, after penalties here and there, we were down 29-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter.  I know for a fact that we had 3 touchdowns called back b/c of penalties. Hopefully the coaches will remedy this in our coming off week, before we play an even feistier team in Perdido on Oct 1.  Still love watching my kiddo, even if he is a complainer--hope his knee problems are growing pains!
