Day 330 - Saturday Oct 8, 2016
Day 330
I went to Scott's house today to check out the Olympus Pen EE that I had planned on buying for $20. A beautiful day, I was able to get over to his house early, so I could be back in time for GT's football game. Unfortunately I wasn't able to come to a deal on the PEN EE--it had a pinhole in it when the aperture closed, which would have totally ruined the film through the leak. After talking about film cameras and the booty he pulled from my find on CL, he told me that I should probably spend my 20 instead on the bargain filter that was at Calagaz. It was perfect. Another great thing about this trip was he gave me a Canon FD mount 35-105mm 3.5-4.5 lens, in what appeared to be beautiful condition. He gave it to me because he couldnt' sell it, and he doesn't shoot Canon. There is a nice grrr mark on the end of the lens, but I was happy to take it with me and shoot it the rest of the day with the expired film I picked up from Calagaz.
I also got a few 52mm color and UV filters, and a 67mm hoya for my wide angle lens since the piece of junk I paid $15 for already separated. At $2 a piece i really couldn't go wrong. They then brought out an Infrared lens filter that i really wanted to buy, but the cost at this point of day for $10 used set me back a little bit, and I wasn't sure it would work on my t3i, so I let it sit. After reading up on it, it probably would have been worth the chance, since I have multiple film cameras to mess with if it didn't work on my digital camera.
I shot the camera the rest of the day, some manual shots once I got home, then set that thing on Program Mode from probably exposure 5 on to see if it really acts as a point and shoot. Results to come, but I still have about 9 exposures to shoot on the roll.
I'm becoming very interested in shooting and maybe even developing B/W film. It is way too expensive to shoot and get them developed on a regular basis at 9-14 bucks a pop. I really don't know how people could afford to print film before digital. Maybe I'll figure it out.
Had a scary moment at GT's football game today. One of the Pcola kids got laid out and required an ambulance. It was pretty scary--what was more scary was the pending almost-riot that nearly occurred because a coach from the other team thought it was a dirty hit and came out on the field hootin and hollering. What did not happen due to the fact that everyone was watching the fool and his tirade, was the ref's missed the fact that the kid dropped the ball and our guys recovered it! They penalized the Pcola team and ejected the coach and a player for fighting, then gave them the ball--what? A dead-ball foul, AND they got the ball. We got ripped off in this one. We should have one this game. We outplayed them, played through injuries, and got shitted due to the fact that one of their coaches was a blow-hard. Ridiculous. Oh well, bring them on again when we get to the playoffs , I hope!
Everyone was on edge after that, especially when their kids came running out to start shit. Luckily our coaches were able to get things cooled down and everyone prayed after the game. It was a beautiful sight to behold, that what could have escalated to an full blown affray, ended up being a peaceful prayer ending. Busy day, and one full of tension. ON a better note, I can't wait to see the results of my film once I get it back--roll should be finished by tomorrow so I'll post the results. Excited about that.
The rest of the evening saw us getting our asses kicked by our neighbors in cornhole, and some macro pics of Christian Prayer Beads that Amber is selling.
