Day 334 - Wednesday Oct 12, 2016

Day 334

Today was an interesting day.  I put the orange filter on the digital camera as I got to work. I left early and got an early pic of the sunrise, as the sun comes out later in the morning now.  It was OK.  Also took a couple of selfies.

Although I couldn't bring myself to do it, there was an inmate, age 70 that was released from our jail today for DUI.  I remember 30 minutes before I left that one of our officers came into my office space and told another detective to call EMS. I later found out that this gentleman had possibly had a heart attack as he was walking in the parking lot just after being released.  Apparently he was only a couple of steps from the grass, but when he hit the ground, very hard he smashed his head against the pavement.  The next thing I knew was there were 30 people around the guy resorting to CPR and chest compressions.  The ambulance got there and was able to whisk him away to the hospital, but from what I heard, the prognosis is not good as he was suffering from a heart attack, and now brain trauma--including the dreaded death rattle, that usually occurs before death.  I can only hope this guy turns out OK, but you never know.  I've never seen a person die right in front of me before.  I couldn't pick up the camera to take pics of the emergency workers in the parking lot.  Just couldn't bring myself to do it.  I wanted to, just couldn't for the respect of the person that fell.

Later that evening we coffeeneured and got our second trip under our belts. It was only a ride to Chick Fil A before running some errands, but it counts!

So here is a selfie, in orange, and a decent sunrise with an orange filter.
