Day 350 - Friday October 28, 2016 (Jayhawks/NOLA)

Day 350

I've been waiting to see the Jayhawks again since the first and only time I saw them back in 2002, during the first Austin City Limits festival.  It was a short, great 45 minute or so set.  I've always wanted to see them since, especially where they are headliners at any show, wherever that may be. They did not disappoint. In fact, it was probably one of my favorite concerts I've attended, and I've attended MANY concerts.  They were so good, singing all the classic songs I've grown up with over the past 13 years, that I was euphoric.  It didn't hurt that I was extremely close to the stage to take it all in.  I will travel again 200 miles to see this band.  They are the absolute best.

Before the show, we went to the 45 bar right down the street to watch the Cubs play the Indians in Game three of the world series.  It felt like we were part of the cubs NOLA faithful as we watched the game.  What a series so far!  I am pulling for the Cubs but Cleveland wants it badly too!

Even better, after realizing that all the Airbnb's would cost upwards of $200 a night (because voodoofest was happening) we decided to go with old faithful, Fountainbleau state park in Mandeville.  Yes that would mean crossing the longest bridge in the world to get home, and that I'd have to be responsible and pace myself during the show and not drink that much, but at $34 bucks, we could afford uber trips to meet with friends for dinner in the Quarter, and hit a couple of breweries, and get some swag...all that stuff, just from the money we saved by camping and not booking a room.  That campground is spectacular anyway, close to Abita Brewery, an also gave great opportunity to take some pics with my film and Digital cameras.
