Day 351-Saturday October 29, 2016

Day 351

We had the good fortune to catch an amazing show last night and were back at camp in our tent by 1AM.  After a 'decent' night sleep, we were up and at em at about 07:30 to break camp and get some pics in good light.  I brought along the AE1P with me and Jen brought the digital with the 24mm.  We shot all around the park, the pier, did some hiking, and eventually left around 10AM.

There were photographers galore this morning.  It made me feel pretty good that I knew when the light was good for photography.  Was able to get some digital shots of me and Jen using the remote trigger, and most turned out pretty good. I'm excited to see the results of the film pics I took. Even though I didn't go through a whole roll to get to the Ilford roll, I was most bummed that I didn't take the film camera to shoot all the cool stuff I saw in NOLA pre-show.  What a bummer and missed opportunity.

We made the trip home from NOLA one of the longest ones ever as we first walked around the small town of Covington, LA about 30 minutes north of the campground.  Later, we grabbed a beer at the local brewery before we decided to drive home.  By the time we got done checking out the quaint little city, we realized it was almost noon! Time to go.   Jen had a farmhouse Ale, and I drank last year's wee-heavy in a smaller half-pint glass.  It was good, but we will both decide to stick with the Anonymous IPA, as that is our favorite.

We planned to stop in Gulfport after about an hour of driving to check out Chandaleur brewing company.  I've always wanted to go since following them on IG.  Problem was you had to take a tour then 'sample' the beer -they couldn't sell it to you, so for $10, you get to try 6 of their six ounce beers they were tapping.  Our favorite, easily was a caramel stout they were experimenting with.  Luckily we were able to get some intelligence from a local there, as he said it wasn't on the board but we had to try it. It was fabulous, but I was driving, so I finished off with a root beer!  Other notables were coconut porter, Pineapple wheat, Cream Ale, and their IPA!  Not long after our beers we grabbed some barbeque from next door and headed home about an hour and a half later.  It was a great day, but we were whupped when we both got home. Some times you have to take advantage of your kids not being home early in the morning.  Avery was at a party and the Fair, and GT got invited to a UWF noon football game, so we had plenty of time to get home and took advantage!
