TEST RUN

I was privileged with a work from home day today as Jen had to be an actual juror in a felony case and Avery had to work.  After completing my duties around 3PM, I fixed my kiddos car window and got the damn 01 Toyota Solara out of the garage. Now for some brakes, a small tuneup, and settling on the insurance increase. I'll need to negotiate with multiple companies as I feel USAA isn't the best bargain anymore.  We'll see.

Tonight, after Jen got home I decided to take the tripod, the Canon AE1 Program and the new EOS M to the NLO to test some sunset pics and see how well it does.

I know i need to get my tripod tab fixed on the insert that goes on top of the ball head. For some reason that thing always sticks when time is of the essence.  As the sun went down tonight, I spent a LOT of time trying to get the camera off to get important time-sensitive pics.  The button 'locks' up and I can't do a quick-release.  I'll lube it and get some WD 40 on it tonight to see if that helps it out. It's a real bummer when you gotta mess with a camera stand to try and get the next shot. Glad it was a test run.  Hope to use it tomorrow on people at work in decent light to see how it goes.

The camera is really neat. It has a Creative Auto switch on the opposite side of video mode, so if in a bind, can just turn the disc that way and go full auto.  I'm not a fan of full auto b/c it  always ramps up the iso to crazy numbers, so i try to set the ISO around 400-800 and shoot away.  Lots of noisy images on this camera so far, but I'm learning, so that'll go away soon--if not, there's always photoshop lightroom to fix my mistakes, but I don't want there to be mistakes!
