The developing process--part II
I was up early this morning, excited to continue scanning-this time Ilford HP5! It had hung all night to dry in the bathroom, and I had to get my stuff out of there before the wrath of the wife for shower time. I was awake at 5AM, cutting film strips at 5:05 AM, all the while firing up the scanner to see if the ILFORD film was a better finish. I'd been storing this film since New Years eve for chrissakes!
I was quite happy with the results as I had 36 photos to develop today. I had about fifteen completed before I had to shower and ugh, work!
It was a quick day at work. My daughter's car was undriveable due to a bad brake booster, so I had to get the part in and car to mechanic. Almost $500 in parts and labor, the brake booster is fixed, the car stops on a dime, and now purrs like a kitten. Amazing how vacuum leaks can just let the air out of things that are fun (pun intended).
I was at work for 30 minutes before I had to leave and get my daughter to work on this day where school was out. Luckily I have an awesome boss and can work from home, so i did that, and on my 15 minute breaks (when I wasn't waiting for a part or driving a scary had to stop car to my mechanic) I would scan a five exposure cut of film to see the results. I think it really is like opening Christmas presents. There something about the work that you put into something, that is so much more gratifying than self gratification! I made this, I loaded this, I took these pics with a camera as old as or older than I am, and then I developed film! I just love that whole concept!
For this roll of Ilford HP5 B/W I used my Canon Ae1 Program, set on multiple manual modes, using the Canon 50mm F1.8.
These results turned out MUCH better than the first roll. The timeframe is between Veteran's day and New Years eve.

So now, I can add to my repertoire that I have developed film from start to finish, as 'easy' as it seems, I understand the process somewhat, and am looking for great things to come as I get better at this amazingly fun hobby.
