March 27, 2017 - MJUii

My cult 'grail' find--the Olympus Stylus Epic 35 f2.8 mjuii

So I've been reading a lot on my sites about this little gem of a point and shoot.  The MJUii is a speedy 2.8 fixed 35mm street photographers camera.  The Zuiko lens is sharp, and I found mine from a nine month old ad on Letgo for $25!  The seller stated his dad bought it, and while it was in shipping transit in 2003 or whenever, he bought a digital camera, and film became dead to him-never even taken out of the box.

I know there are deals like this to be had in film right now, even as it starts to make a comeback.  People that have been watching this much earlier than me certainly know this is the case as I hear them talking about rising prices of older slrs and film cameras. But this, THIS camera has resale value about ten times what I paid for it, especially with the condition it's in.  I hope I'll like it as much as everyone else seems to rave about.  I've also researched and read about the light leak problems that all these cameras seem to have after repetitive use--I guess the slider or the lens housing can develop some type light leak--not totally ruining the camera, but softening sides and corners of developed pics.  Oh well, here was my test run using Ultrafine xtreme bnw 100

This camera is TINY.  I can't believe how small it is. Talk about stealth.  I haven't street shot it yet, and most of these pics were just taken around the house of family members to get the feel for how it shoots, and the results were very good.  Auto flash, auto everything, unless you turn the flash off. Red-eye reduction, antishake, this camera has a lot of solid features built into it.

Here was the result set. 24 exposures, used while hiking the Soundside trail, and pics of family members
Yield to what?
